Da Nang: support foreigners affected by covid-19

Da Nang has set up a hotline to support foreigners living in difficult areas due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Many foreigners in Da Nang who have met difficulties in buying food and necessities as well as getting medical examination and treatment have been promptly supported via the central city's hotline.

Da Nang said that it has received 180 calls after 3 days of publishing a list of hotline numbers to support foreigners in difficulty in Ho Chi Minh City. These calls are mainly from support to buy food, transportation for vaccination, appointment of medical examination and for buying necessities.

Foreigners mainly make recommendations on issues such as: Support to buy food, necessities, medicine; how to travel to get tested and vaccinated against COVID-19; make an appointment for medical examination; advice on visa extension procedures, travel to return home.

After receiving, the hotline staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs immediately supported requests such as: Advice on moving to the airport, consulting on issues related to passport, visa extension, temporary residence, registration for vaccination against COVID-19... Other requests for support such as procurement of food and necessities, the Department of Foreign Affairs has transferred information of foreigners to districts to support Buy help and deliver to your home. In addition, when recognizing some really difficult cases of foreigners, the Department has coordinated with the People's Committees of districts to verify and provide free food and timely food support. For other issues such as passports, visa extension, domestic and international movement, etc., the Department of Foreign Affairs has presided over and coordinated with relevant agencies to provide timely advice, guidance and support and ensure compliance with relevant regulations in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic. In addition, many foreigners have requested to support the registration of vaccination against COVID-19, the Department of Foreign Affairs has instructed according to Official Letter No. 129/BCD-SYT dated August 12, 2021 of the Steering Committee to deploy the vaccination campaign. vaccination against COVID-19 in the city.

So far the hotline has received about 180 calls requesting support from foreigners. Most of them are about buying food, transportation to get vaccinated, making medical examination appointments and buying necessities.

After receiving requests, the department immediately provided necessary support such as transportation and registration for vaccination. Food and other necessities are bought and delivered to their homes.

In the past few days, a number of foreigners said they have no money to buy foodstuff and asked for help, said the department's deputy director Nguyen Thuy Anh, adding that it will coordinate with local authorities to verify the information and bring food to them.

The majority of foreigners are experts working in industrial parks, mainly in the two districts of Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son. Currently, Da Nang has more than 4,800 foreigners staying, most of which are Koreans.
