Sapa‘s terraces – Breathtakingly beautiful picture in the pouring season

The harmonious combination of nature-made and manmade beauty creates wonderful terraces that make tourists feel amazed.

The fields look like a giant golden ladder from the sky in the ripe season, and like a kaleidoscope of sparkling mirrors in the pouring water season. Sapa’s terraces are not only a source of rice supply for local people living in the mountainous region but also show the unique cultural identity and creativity of highland ethnic minorities.

Many tourists wonder how rice plants can be grown so evenly in the middle of the hill. Others presume that farmers must be very talented to "draw" the breathtakingly beautiful ladders. The terrace with the most steps is located at Vu Lung Sung village, Trung Chai commune. It has 121 steps, aged over 100 years old and is considered one of the most beautiful terraces in Sa Pa.

The terraces along the National Highway 4D and the route to Sa Pa have a lot of shapes and sizes. They are attractive tourist destinations to foreign visitors and those from the south of Vietnam.

Bac Ha – The white plum blossom paradise in the fairy tale

From late February to late March, Ta Van Chu commune, Bac Ha district is always covered with white plum flowers. After the Tam Hoa plum blossom season, Bac Ha enters the Ta Van plum blossom season - a local plum variety - that can only be grown in highland communes, mainly Ta Van Chu commune. It’s located more than 81km from Lao Cai city to the northeast (about 2.5 hours by car), 15 km from Bac Ha town to the north (about 40 minutes).

The poetic white plum garden is a must-see check-in point.

The flowers bloom for 5-7 days before fading away, then the young fruits and green leaves will sprout.

Bac Ha district has more than 1,600 hectares of orchid trees. There are more than 1,000 hectares of Tam Hoa plums and local plums in the center of the town and some other communes. In the blooming season during spring, Bac Ha is like being coated with a pure white shirt. Plum blossoms cover the mountainside, every road, and alleyway, peeking behind the houses and stretching endlessly, turning Bac Ha plateau into a poetic and charming landscape painting.
